I was thinking today about my children and how each one is individually unique. They are adults now Ciara 25 soon to be 26, Jocelin 22, Paul Landon not quite an adult 17.
My children's personalities are different and are tailored for their callings in life, Ciara is somewhat quiet yet she is full of ideas and dreams She clings to the art of writing and pours her soul out through her gift of writing. Life has brought her many hurts and disappointments she finds solace in music.
I know that within her is more ministry, as a parent I will endure the fight to help her accomplish her calling. Enduring the fight means spiritual warfare and that means less talking and more praying.
Then there is Jocelin who in times past her heart was so fragile I had to seek God on how to deal with her. Being children of divorce and remarriage had great effect on my children so emotions were high. In a dream/vision God showed me what I had to do with regards to Jocelin and it was FIGHT!
In the dream I went to her room and there were demonic spirits entering her room, I shouted hey what are you doing? What do you want? They responded.....We've come to destroy your daughter, immediately I went to war and fought with the Word of God and they left one by one. The disturbing thing was when they got to the back door to leave, the held up keys and shook them and said "we have the keys we will be back. My job was to teach her how to get the keys back so that access would be denied.
I took notice that as they left the name of the spirit was written above them, I then knew how to minister to my daughter.
I pushed the word and prayer to her like a pusher, letting her know that without it you can't survive.
I found out that we can talk, fuss and demand but nothing will impress the hearts of our children as profoundly as God's Word. Tell them that It defines them and their lives not circumstances.
I haven't forgotten Paul my youngest because he has put a whole new twist on parenting. Landon as I call him has been more of a challenge than I anticipated... very factual and literal.
This child takes the stance that if he can't make sense of it then it must not be. The comforting thing is I see a compassionate heart in him that hurts for others. And when he tries to "act" like this christian life is not for him... he constantly resorts to the power of prayer:) My approach to him is a little different because he needs to see somethings so God has allowed him to get into binds where he had to acknowedge the power of God. Daily I see God reeling him in I try to see past the teenage jargon and hear the cry because the fight is not over I will ENDURE THE FIGHT!
